Staining Ink: Chapter 3

Azure walked into the park, its open gate welcoming. In the distance, there was a Zoroark and a Shiftry throwing apples at each other. The Zoroark and the Shiftry looked at Azure, and started to walk towards her. The Zoroark outstretched his hand. “Hi. My name’s Black Magic.” Azure took Black Magic’s hand. “I’m Azure.” Black Magic smiled. “This is my friend, Grimleaf.” Grimleaf outstretched his hand like Black Magic had done. No sound came from his mouth, however. Azure eyed Black Magic, who was looking at Grimleaf. The two interlocked eyes for a moment, then went back to their original spots. “Grimleaf is mute.” Grimleaf smiled. Azure smiled back. Black Magic grabbed Grimleaf’s shoulders. “Well, what do you say to a nice game of tag?” Grimleaf turned around and nodded. Azure nodded as well. “I think it would be great.” Black Magic slapped his hand on Grimleaf. “Tag! You’re it!” He ran off. Azure followed, laughing. Grimleaf started to run after Azure. Hearing nothing, she turned her head and stopped. Grimleaf tagged her. She started to laugh. “That’s a good tactic!” Grimleaf smiled and took off. Azure ran after Black Magic. “Get over here!” Black Magic tripped and fell. Azure saw this as a chance to tag him and did so. Black Magic smiled. “Heh.” Azure looked down. “You’re it.” Black Magic got up. Grimleaf stopped to check if he was okay, and Black Magic tagged him. He turned to Azure. “Hey, I don’t really want to play any more. Can we go to the beach?” Azure looked at Grimleaf, who nodded. Azure nodded. “Sure.” The three made their way out of the park and towards the beach.
